The objectives of this study of a sciatic population were:
To assess the extent to which self-reported symptoms and clinical findings can be interpreted by the degree of disc displacement in MRI (I)
To evaluate the clinical and radiological phenotype of patients with the Trp2 and Trp3 alleles (II and III)
To compare the efficacy and costs of periradicular infiltration with either a combination of methylprednisolone and bupivacaine, or saline in an intervention prognostic study, in the whole study population (IV) or in subgroups (V)
